- provides a list of downloadable assessments spanning many topics under transition. Some assessments are available in Spanish.

- provides a plethora of links to lesson plans and interactive sites for students on various levels. Take your time exploring the site, as some of the links are nonfunctional.

 

Career Exploration and Prerequisites

– my website for students to follow along with for extension career exploration activities, and an example career portfolio. It also serves as a heads up to students on what we will be working on during that week.

- Go to Work and Career. Has a wide variety of topics: career planning, links to assessments, job search information with tutorials and examples, and work place skills with tips on keeping a job. The reading level is at a middle school level. There are some interactive features.

– Interactive game where students can answer questions about different careers. It reinforces career exploration based on exposure to the 16 Career Clusters. The reading level is at or above middle school. This game can be played alone or in a group.

- Career development and guidance through worksheets, handouts, and workbooks. Individual tabs can link you to other sites. The site has listed a wide variety of career related assessments. The reading and interest are at a high school level, but can be modified for a lower reading level.

– Must register to play, but the registration is easy and quick. It is a game that relates careers and jobs to cars and driving. It is fun to play in my opinion. The site is an interactive interest assessment.

 

Virtual Job Shadows and Informational Interviews

– Features careers in British Columbia, though the location is similar to the pacific north west of the United States. There are 95 videos that are approximately 5 minutes a piece.

– This site is dedicated to providing virtual job shadows and informational interviews with various career professionals. This site was created for teens, by teens in Santa Rosa, California.

– The videos are organized according to the 16 Career Clusters. Some videos are available in Spanish.

- This site has over 300 homemade videos. Employees were asked to describe a typical day, relay the qualifications for employment in their field, what are the best and worst parts of their job, and what advice would they give you about going into their career.

- Videos are alphabetized by career title. Each video is between 3-5 minutes long. Some videos are dated, but they have previously undiscussed career paths.
